Warning - FAKE Inspection Reports Being Used

Dear All

We have had reported a worrying incident concerning the use of a forged freight forwarder's inspection report. This was used to attempt to con the purchaser that goods had been received and inspected by the freight forwarder.

All Traders are warned that they should always speak directly with the FF to ensure such documents are genuine.

General Advice

1. We have also had a recent report about a company who received a wire transfer proof of payment and on this basis released stock! His local bank told him the transfer paperwork was ok which gave him confidence to release the goods. However the transfer document was fake and then the local bank informed the seller that there is no money in the following days. The trader has now lost the stock.

Be very careful - this was the 1st time they had dealt with this buyer so maybe they should have waited but be warned there are problems with banking procedures which allow fraudsters to attempt to steal your goods.

2. Always check the vat number and company numbers

3. Does the person you are dealing with actually work for the company he claims to? If not he may have cloned the company and you may also have issues.

Overall be careful!
